What is Central processing units (CPU )?

 CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT

( CPU )

CPU is the brain up any computer system in a human body ,  CPU is the most important processor in a computer ,its a electronic circuitry executes instructions of a computer program such as major calculation , manipulations and comparisons are made by CPU. The CPU is also responsible by all other units of the computer system .

  • ALU - Arithmetic and logic unit .
  • CU Control Unit .
  • Main memory or Primary memory.

ARITHMETIC AND LOGIC UNIT  :- All  calculation including camparisons are made by the ALU .The data and instructions , stored in the primary memory prior tor processing , are transferred to the ALU where processing takes place .

  • Arithmetic operation include addition , subtraction , multiplication , and division .
  • Logical operations involves comparisons .

CONTROL UNIT :- Is the "boss" and coordinates all of the activities . Uses programing instructions , it controls the flow of information through the processor by controlling what happens inside the processor we communicate with the computer through programming languages .

EX :- COBOL , C++ , HTML ,java script , or visual basic or visual basic net.

MAIN MEMORY OR STORAGE UNIT :- It is called Random access memory ( RAM ) It temporarily stores data , programes and intermediate and final result of processing so , if acts as a temporary storage area that's holds the data temporarily which is used to run the computer .

MEMORY

Found on the motherboard .
Short Term memory :- RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY ( RAM ) .
Long Term  memory :- READ ONLY MEMORY  ( ROM ) .
